Regular Season Ends
Season #1 for the NAHL has come to an end with the Diablos taking tops in the regular season standing. The Silver Bullets earn a victory in the last regular season game of the season over the Crusaders and end the season in a tie with them. The head-to-head match up has the Silver Bullets ahead, so they go on to face the Diablos in the Championship game.

Although finishing with a 1-7 record, the Punishers made each game competitive and just started the process of of beginning to gel as a team. From the lokos of it, all in the league had a great time, made new friends, and improved their skills.

League Leaders
The scoring race seemed up for grabs all season. In the end, Crusaders star, Josh Feathers (Dobby) takes the scoring title. The Diablos made it a close race with 3 players each having 12 points. Lowell, Topliff & Ford tie for 2nd. To make it even more interesting, 4 other each had 11 points to tie for 3rd. Dylo, Close, Kuehnhold & Dean represented their teams well by making the list.

In the goalie race, Woody Board, although injured for most of the season, had a 1.0 GAA. In order for the stats to count, a minimum of 2 games played was required so he was out of the running. Brown takes the GAA award with a 2.83. Bast held the #1 spot throughout the regular season, but with an uncharacteristic showing in back-to-back games, falls to the #2 spot. Brown & Bast will face off in the Championship game. Anderson played 11 games and consistently worked his GAA ending with a 3.91. Bishop rounds off the goalie standings with a 3-4 record and a 5.56 GAA. A HUGE thanks to all our goalies for making their scheduled games and making the league exteremly enjoyable!

Championship
The Diablos face the Silver Bullets in the important Championship Game this Tuesday. Bast will play net for the Diablos while Brown protects the crease for the Bullets. Instead of quoting what the players on each team think about the match up, I wanted to take an opportunity to gie a game breakdown.

Diablos- Winning the regular season race with a 7-1 record has given the Diablos big heads. They feel they can beat anyone at anytime by just showing up. Team capatin Lowell has his team believing that this is an easy win. This over confidence may hurt players such as Dylo & Topliff who will be lokoing to showboat for the fans more than worry about the game. Speedy "Ford" will look to embarass the Bullets by skating through their zone backwards in an attempt to prove he is the fastest player on the planet. With Schaefer & Kielty being good friends, Kielty may look to set his buddy up versus his typical cherry picking goal scoring chances. No that won't happen, as he may be the x factor to this game. With Roberts not making the Top 3 in scoring, look for him to play keep away, even from his own teammates to try and win this game single handedly. Cruse, Bafia & Coady have been grumbling all season about Lowell's game strategy. Behind the friendly & supportive face of the captain, lies a true demonic dictator that has been holding back the talent of the Cruse, Bafia & Coady line. Lastly, Little is looking ahead to next season and may take this opportunity to work on his own skill development during this game. Don't be surprised if you see him doing crossovers around the circles during a penalty kill. To win this game. the Diablos will need to come with their agressive goal scoring power out of the blocks and not let up. If selfish play takes over and everyone looks to be MVP, watch for this team to fall apart early. On a final note, which Bast will show up? If the relaxed and confident one puts on the pads, a S***O** may occur, but if a few soft ones get in early, look for the little boy not not be able to keep his finger in the dike and the dam to break loose.

Silver Bullets- In a teriffic end of season game to get the #2 spot, the Bullets have the momentum...but do they have the talent? Captain Close led his team in scoring, but was only good enough to take the #7 spot overall in points. Giunta did not like being in the shadow of Close all season, so look for him to let loose. Glessner wants this game bad, but is the thought of the broomball tourney weighing heavily on his mind? Does he have enough focus for 60 minutes to help his team? Look for Mudge to be a "basket case" for this one. With his buddy McDonough not playing in this one, the routine of pasta before the game with his teammate will surely mess him up. Clutts & Harrelson may be the "quiet" force that no one expects to do anything this game. I see some hussle coming from this pair that may not be contested by the Diablos. Rech & McElyea have moved to higher end skates this weekend in an effort to get "quick feet". As long as they don't focus on showing the skates off to the crowd, they may throw up some big numbers. Captain Close had a closed door meeting with Green & Whitaker after their morning practice skate. It is unknown what was discussed , but I believe there has been some discussion of those two leading the "Flying V" if the situation arises. Brown will be key in net as well. There has always been a bitter rivalry between him and Bast, so look for Brown to have some choice words for Bast as they skate past each other between periods. If the Bullets can play their positons for more than just the face off, they may have a chance. Look for them to shut down the top 4 scorers on the Diablos and make the other players work harder.

Consolation Game
The Crusaders face the Punishers to determine 3rd & 4th. The Punishers want this game bad to show the world that they are better than their record. The Crusaders want to solidify their 3rd place finish so they'll be going all out. Bishop will defend the net for the Crusaders, while Anderson stops the shots for the Punishers. A great competitive & fun game will be seen as a finale to the first novice league season.

There will be beer, soda, pizza, etc during both games. Please come out and show your support for all the teams and hang out with your friends after the game. Thanks to all who have made this a great season.

Next Session
Don't forget to register if you have not done so already. The draft to pick teams will be Saturday, April 21 at 6 PM in the lobby of the Metro. There is a D League Pay & Play at 4:15 that evening until 5:45..so come out , get some ice time and hang out after to see what team you are on. We are unsure at this time whether there will be 4 or 6 teams in the next session. For now, the 4 captains for the draft will be: Brad Dean, Nick Giunta, Chris Roberts & Neil Glessner. If we go to 6 teams, Don Mudge & Zac Abrams will capatin a team as well. Please let me know if you cannot or do not want to captain a team. I will need the captains there for the draft, but if you cannot make it, please let me know and I can help you with team selection.

Lastly, a huge congrats and besot of luck to those making the jump to C League in the Summer. It was all of you that made this Novice session great success and were able to develop skills that you can take with you. Don't forget about the league that got you there and all your teammates that helped. Best of luck and we'll see you around!
