Championship
Games
The Championship game will be held on Tuesday, April 17
at 7:30 PM. The top 2 teams at the end of the regular season will battle
for the "Trainer's Cup". In case of a tie, the winner of regular
season head to head between the two will win. If still tied, then the
team with the lowest goals against average will win. This came was provided
at NO Charge courtesy of Brain at the Metro as a thanks for making the
league a success.
Some have asked for a consolation game. I have "persuaded"
Brian into staying late and allowing us the time immediately after the
championship game to allow the 3rd & 4th place teams to battle. The
cost will be $10 per person for this game to cover ice time. I ask that
we make this a great turnout and show support to all 4 teams and the Metro
by watching both games. The lounge will be open and I thought we could
order pizza if players are interested and have this as our end of season
bash.
New
Spring / Summer Session Update
In the links column, you will find information on the next league sessions.
Players will need to decide if they are doing "D" again, moving
up to "C" or both. I will briefly recap what is happening in
the next "D" session.
- We will attempt to field 6 teams & begin by planning it as 4 on
4
- The top 6 players (that are remaining in D league) in point standings
will be captains
- Draft day will be April 21st at Metro Ice Sports Facilty (time TBD)
- Random lottery will determine order of picks.
- Players can pick ONE buddy to play with on same team
- Refundable $20 deposit will be added to league fee for jersey cost
The reason YOUR novice league has been successful is due to everyone
promoting the sport. Encourage those you know who may want to play to
try a Stick & Puck or clinic. We want to start getting registrations
in as soon as possible to make sure we have enough to form the 6 teams.
I am not concerned about the payment at this point, but please get the
registration in quickly.
Hockey Clinic -
Hockey 103
The Master Clinic Instructor & Alien Hockey have teamed up to have
a Hockey 103 clinic. This clinic will be held over 3 days and concentrate
on Hockey positioning & strategies. Some of the items that will be
covered the first 2 days include:
- Proper locations for each position in both offensive & defensive
zones
- Line change strategy & shift times
- Basic play strategy
- Goaltender instruction
The clinic will conclude with an actual game held on the 3rd day. Brian
Wierson and Joe Bafia will choose teams and bench coach the two teams
for the game implementing the strategies learned in real time. This is
a must for those who want to improve their knowledge of the game and learn
the team aspect of the game. At $45 for 4 1/4 hours of ice time, with
great coaching & instruction, you can't beat it. Limited to first
28 players & 2 goalies.
